Thank you to everyone who attended our Open Evening on 18th September. It was amazing to see so many families walk through our doors. We really appreciate that you took the time to come and meet us and see what Healing Academy is all about. We hope you had as much fun as we did, and sincerely hope we will meet you again next year when you choose Healing Academy for your child.

Take a look at what our visitors had to say about the evening.

Our annual open evening event gives primary pupils and their parents or carers the opportunity to discover what makes Healing Academy unique.

During the evening, exciting hands-on lessons and demonstrations will take place within each faculty, and our principal and senior leaders will give informative presentations and a tour at regular intervals from 4:30, 5:15 and 6:00 pm.

Friendly and welcoming pupils and staff members will be on hand throughout the evening to answer any questions you may have about life at our academy.

Healing has a proud history of providing an excellent education serving our community. We have faced some turbulence in the last couple of years but we are emerging strongly from this and we want our School to return to be one of the highest performing schools in the region and country

I am ambitious for Healing and passionate about ensuring your children’s futures are both safe and successful. We want to work with you to move the Academy forwards. It is my intention to work closely with great colleagues at the Academy and Trust to maximise every opportunity to deliver on our vision and values. We aim to inspire greatness in every child and equip them with the academic excellence, life skills and personal attributes to lead happy, safe, successful lives.

Key highlights from the report are:

Principal Stephen Logan says, “Healing has a proud history and tradition of providing the very best education, enrichment, and experiences serving our community. We have faced some turbulence in the last couple of years but we are emerging strongly and by working together, we will return to be one of the highest performing inclusive schools in the region and country.”

CEO Richard Briggs adds, “The staff and leaders are united in their determination to make Healing great again and this report is a positive first step. It’s lovely to read that there is a ‘curriculum that is ambitious’ and a ‘comprehensive personal development curriculum’ with a ‘wide range of extra-curricular activities’.”

We will welcome His Majesty’s Inspectors to Healing Academy on Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th June 2024.

During HSC Careers Week, the group was delighted to welcome Hannah, a dedicated community nurse from Care Plus. Her visit not only inspired many attendees to consider careers in community health but also emphasized the vital role of compassionate care in the healthcare sector.
We would also like to thank First Avenue Training, who provided such valuable information about childcare apprenticeships in our local area.

We are delighted to announce the date for our Open Evening for pupils in Years 5 and 6.

Congratulations to the Yr 9 and 10 pupils who conquered the challenges of the weather and triumphed on their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition!
Their determination and teamwork were on full display as they navigated a two-day trek, and camped out under the stars. This experience will undoubtedly develop their resilience and resourcefulness, qualities that will serve them well in the future!

Following the departure of previous Principal Donna Fitzgerald, Healing Secondary Academy has appointed a new Principal.

“I am delighted to announce that we have appointed Stephen Logan as the new Principal of Healing Academy. We had a very strong field of candidates, and Stephen proved himself to have the values, skills and knowledge that we were looking for to take the Academy to the next stage of its development” says Richard Briggs, CEO of Harbour Learning Trust, where Healing Secondary Academy sits as one of 8 schools within the Trust.

Stephen is currently Deputy Headteacher at Malet Lambert School in Hull and has been in this role for the last nine years, a school that has earned an excellent Ofsted report.

Stephen says, “I am delighted and proud to be appointed as the new Principal of Healing Academy. This is an exciting time for our community and it is my intention to work closely with great colleagues at the Academy to maximise every opportunity to deliver on our vision and values where we inspire greatness in every child and equip them with the academic excellence, life skills and personal attributes to lead happy, safe, successful lives.”

Stephen goes on to say that he is keen to work with the community to “ensure that everyone has the opportunity to thrive in an ambitious, outward facing, welcoming and inclusive school environment.”

Stephen is clear in his intent to move Healing Secondary Academy forwards, “I have a passionate commitment to ensure we have a flourishing Academy that serves and restores pride and reputation from the Healing community.” He adds that he would like to thank all colleagues at Malet Lambert School and The Education Alliance, saying that “it has been a real privilege to have served this community”.

Stephen is expected to start his new role in September.
